Tavern at the End of the World

The Tavern at the End of the World is warm and inviting, filled with friendly faces, soon-to-be-friends, not to mention delicious, delicious food.

Scout Notes: Located a stones-throw from the industrial-apocalyptic looking Sullivan Square T station, The Tavern at The End of the World provides stark contrast: inside, it's warm and inviting, filled with friendly faces, soon-to-be-friends, oh, and did we mention the food? On the menu you'll find authentic Irish cuisine, but it doesn't stop there. Fish and chips, spicy chicken quesadilla, Nepali curry fries, bangers and mash, soups, salads, grilled pizzas...we could go on forever—and on tap is a delightful selection of craft beers and seasonal drafts. “If you can't find a beer here that you like,” jokes owner Raymond Oneil, “then you should quit drinking beer.”

Tavern is a classic Boston pub without the hole-in-the-wall griminess we've come to expect from such establishments. Food is locally sourced, impeccably fresh, and prepared to perfection. I tried the fish and chips—two light and fluffy filets of fresh (local) cod—and a handmade cheeseburger on a delectable buttery bun. Both hit the spot. I also chatted up some regulars who were hanging out for lunch, and they said that here, you feel like family. Hmmm... great food served up by friends who feel like family? And you don't even have to do the dishes.

Menu Highlights:
Organic lamb burger, $13
Fish and chips, $11
Irish Mars bar toasty, $7 (“...and I've never seen one left on a plate. Ever,” says Oneil.)
