Sara Ross, owner, creator, and flavor innovator, has been mixing up batches of homemade, hand-decorated cupcakes since 2007.A small bakery in Davis Square serves up some of the most delicious cupcakes we've ever had, and they do it with just two mixers, one oven, all natural ingredients and a fun, friendly staff. After taking a bite of one of these cupcakes, there’s only one thing to say, “Damn, these cupcakes kick ass,” which is incidentally how this bakery got its name.
Sara Ross, owner, creator, and flavor innovator, has been mixing up batches of homemade, hand-decorated cupcakes since 2007. After relocating from the West Coast, Sara recognized that Boston didn’t have a cupcake bakery, so she put her 10 years of experience to good use and opened Kickass Cupcakes—and she’s never looked back. Not that she has time to reminisce: Sara and her small team whip up batches of cupcakes for the bakery, deliveries, and even special orders. They even find time to operate a cupcake truck, all in one day.
Sara enjoys taking standard restaurant desserts and turning them into cupcake creations, from chocolate and vanilla to flavor inspirations like Mojito, Cinnamon-Chai-Pecan Sticky, and the Lucky Cupcake (a lemon cake topped with butter cream frosting and candied ginger, then adorned with your very own fortune). As you can see, there’s something for everyone at Kickass Cupcakes. You can get gluten-free and vegan options, and even Pupcakes and Kittycakes—yes, cupcakes for your pets. You’ll want to check in often for the latest limited edition flavors and, of course, the special flavor of the day. And if you have time, swing by on the last Monday of the month for a truly libating experience known as Cupcake Happy Hour, in which you can get free samples of cupcakes inspired by your favorite cocktails. Strawberry margarita cupcake? Yes, please.
