Most people come to this place the first time to eat the Indian food, but the Nepali food shouldn't be overlooked.
Ball Square is an under-appreciated little area of Somerville that really ought to be given props. Yak & Yeti has settled nicely into this area. It features a beautifully designed, modern dining space that made us feel like we were eating our meal while nestled in a base camp on the side of Everest. It's pretty awesome. Most people come to this place the first time to eat the Indian food, but the Nepali food shouldn't be overlooked.

We were told to break the menu down into two parts when we started looking at it with Amrit, one of the owners of Yak & Yeti. There is the Indian side of the menu, which is expansive and has all the typical Indian fare, like Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, and a variety of curry dishes. But the smaller, more focused side of the menu is composed of Nepali cuisine, which we regret not discovering before now. According to Amrit, it’s much healthier than Indian food since it's cooked with very little oil and no cream. Yet, it's just as tasty with spices imported from Nepal, fresh vegetables and/or meat.

Also highlighting the menu are the noodle dishes, which feel like just the sort of meal one would consume whilst on the side of Everest. Sure, we weren't climbing any sort of mountain, but hey, we still had to trek back to the T. That takes energy, too, y'know.
