Sara Jane is the quintessential Old Town women’s boutique on Wells Street. This season, owner and buyer Sara has put together a unique collection of jeans, handbags, shorts, and summer dresses from designers like Leota and Nikki Poulos, but you’ll also find things that are a bit more far-flung—“cool, novelty, fun stuff,” says Sara.

In a neighborhood known for good shops, Sara Jane occupies a cute storefront that’s just a short walk to the restaurants and bars along Wells. The store is neatly arranged, with racks brimming with dresses, tops, and hats, and displays of leather accessories and jewelry. And you can tell Sara knows Chicago style. She says people come to the boutique for the excellent price points, great customer service, and its unique collection. “Jewelry flies off the shelf in here,” she says. Then, almost as an afterthought, she adds, “Oh, and I play great music.” (Case in point: a little Thriller coming through the speakers on the day we visited.) With a focus on retro and modern, there’s definitely something for everyone at Sara Jane.
