T&P Tavern
Scout Notes: The T&P Tavern, housed in the guts of Ft. Worth's historic Texas & Pacific Railway Station, looks like a bar brought to our century via time machine. Formerly a diner that ceased operation in 1969, the T&P gives off a funky Mad Men-meets-Cowtown vibe. This is partly due to the original fixtures; the bar and the stools belonged to its original incarnation. Mostly, though, it's the history that flavors this self proclaimed “social space.” In fact, they've won "Best Place to Have a Conversation" in Fort Worth Weekly's Best of 2011. People pass through heading in and out of town, meeting up with friends and making new one. The train depot reborn, this time with beer.
To help soak up the 24 wildly eclectic beers on tap, the T&P has concocted a modest, but dedicatedly tasty, menu full of simple, filling chow. Grilled sandwiches are a definite highlight, especially the Chipotle Portabella Mushroom Panini; a little spicy, meaty but meatless, it hits that bar-food sweet spot without resulting to fried greasiness. Also of note, the Cheese Board for Two, for when your drinks make you feel fancy.
Menu Highlights:
Cheese Board for Two, $12
Chipotle Portabella Mushroom Panini, $7.50
BBQ Brisket Tacos, $8
Hours:
Sunday - Friday, 4pm to 2am
Saturday, 3pm to 2am
