"I love the whole investigation...," said Nicole, the shop's owner and No. 1 candy sleuth. "We’ve been able to make a lot of people, who never thought they’d see a particular soda or candy again, feel over the moon."Of all the great detectives in the history of the world—Sherlock, Clousseau, Ventura—none has been on as sweet a case as Nicole Meadows, the owner of quite literally, the most sugar-laden spot in the DFW, Blooms Candy and Soda Pop Shop. "I love the whole investigation and research thing," she said, explaining that most of her inventory of some 900 items came about due to her customers' special requests. "It becomes a challenge for me. We’ve been able to make a lot of people, who never thought they’d see a particular soda or candy again, feel over the moon." Which is exactly how we felt when we saw this colorful space for the first time. There are rows upon rows of confections, featuring Texas favorites like Cherry Mash, as well as other regional and imported favorites like Nut Goodies (from Minnesota) and Salt Water Taffy (an East Coast boardwalk favorite).
Even more enticing, perhaps, is the glass-bottle soda pop selection. Featuring about 250 varieties, including all the classics (50 different kinds of root beer!), plus crazy concoctions, like Chocolate-Covered Maple Bacon Soda, there's something for everyone with a curious sweet tooth. Or peruse the novelty gifts on hand, that embrace the quirky in our culture. Hey, what better vessel to carry home all your sweet new goods than a zombie lunch box?
