Table the wine for now. Come instead to sample the quality coffee prepared with the finest of equipment and ingredients by Mike Mettendorf, one of the best baristas in the biz.If you're the type who thinks it takes more than coffee to reach Zen-like levels of bliss, then we suggest you get to The Alcove immediately. While this Uptown cafe and bar is already a favorite of many a wine and beer enthusiast, coffee lovers are starting to take notice, as well. That's because master barista Mike Mettendorf takes his craft seriously... very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that when he talks about all the reasons why a "Synnesso Hydra Espresso machine" is better than most other espresso makers, or that a "Kyoto Iced Coffee" puts other iced coffees to shame, it's fair to take his word for it—this stuff is good. Even better than taking his (or our) word for it, though, is tasting this caffeinated magic for yourself.
Featuring Intelligentsia coffee (which, by the way isn't available anywhere else in Dallas) and other varieties sourced from the same fields as Intelligentsia before being locally roasted right here in Dallas, this coffee is some of the best in town—and the world. Add to that the care Mike and his staff take in prepping each perfect cup of joe and, well, we're pretty sure The Alcove is now an official triple threat. Wine, beer and coffee all under one roof? We feel three steps closer to nirvana already.
