The cuisine of South America is as electrically flavored as it is gorgeously presented at this North Dallas spot. Come see (and taste) for yourself.South American cuisine: it’s deceptively simple, and a bastion of freshness, yet sadly under-represented in the landscape of Dallas eateries. Maybe it's our unabashed love of all things Tex-Mex that keeps it at bay; or perhaps it's just that we haven't had South American cuisine done correctly—we don't know its glory because we've never had it proven to our mouths. Well, we are happy to report that in the last few months, that’s all changed thanks to one Nazca Kitchen in North Dallas.
Literally, everything on the menu is good. We dare you to throw a dart at the menu. Go ahead, because it will always land on a quality item. In particular, we liked the Butter Leaf Fish Tacos. The grilled tilapia played nicely with the cabbage slaw, a zippy aioli, and some mango-lime relish—all wrapped inside an almost sarcastically green leaf of butter lettuce, which, by the way, grows onsite around the restaurant’s glassed-in sunroom. (Ingredients rarely get fresher than that.)
To try the more adventurous side of South American eating, order the Fish Ceviche. Tilapia is the star again, but this time it has been “cooked” in a lime/aji pepper marinade that tastes like pure electricity. Combined with the vibrant colors on the plate and the deeply satisfied feeling in our stomachs, we wondered where South American food (and Nazca Kitchen) have been all our lives. Thank goodness we never have to worry about that again.
