One of downtown Denver’s best-kept secrets is this relaxed winery where you can concoct your own custom blend or uncork one of their specialties.Denver is renowned for its small breweries and micro-distilleries, but few people know that the city boasts a full-service winery and tasting room mere paces from downtown’s bustling 16th Street pedestrian mall. D’Vine Wine produces thousands of bottles of wine per month from their Champa Street digs, but they’ve also set up a cozy space where you can pop in after work and unwind with a glass their hallmark Wild Women Wines (like the peppery Tempranillo or their citrus-flecked Sauvignon Blanc). Best of all, D’Vine will even let you create your own unique batch of wine, from selecting your personal blend of grapes to customizing the label which adorns the bottle.
D’Vine’s main tasting room is a warm, inviting alternative to the downtown bar scene with Tuscan inspired décor and empty wine bottles suspended along the walls. For the curious patron, they’ll even sneak you in for a tour of the back room where miniature miracles of chemistry such as fermentation and clarification take place daily. Before you leave, be sure to cap off your visit with a taste of D’Vine’s signature Chocolate Port Wine. Originally devised as a special Valentine’s Day offering, this sweet treat quickly cemented its place as the go-to dessert wine on the menu.
