“We want to be a meeting place for this up-and-coming neighborhood.”Bad news for Denver baristas: our expectations just got a whole lot higher. You see 2914 Coffeethe brand new Jefferson Park area café that slings fair-trade, organic Kaladi Brothers coffee, baked goods from Boulder’s Spruce Confections and, wait for it, Little Man ice cream sandwichesis not just another mocha mill. Owner and artist Anthony tops off his coffee creations with latte art. And if you don’t squeal with delight when you see a heart and rosette design crowning your caramel macchiato, then you, my friend, are a negative Nancy.
2914 is owned and operated by both Anthony and his wife Melissa. For spending all their days and nights together, the two seem remarkably happy and swear they only occasionally fight about things like how many shots to put into their drinks. In fact the name of 2914, although also the numbered address on 25th street, is a sort of serendipitous ode to their union. The couple’s destination wedding was held in Mexico on February 9 (2/9) and then they legally sealed the deal back home on the 14th. Once they realized the address contained such meaningful numbers, they knew it was meant to be.
