Texas-size swagger and Japanese flavors unite at this ballpark neighborhood sushi bar and grill. Score some zen and some fusion cuisine all at once.“Our zen is loud.” That's how Mitch Harber describes the atmosphere at iFish, the Asian grill and sushi bar he co-founded a stone's throw from Coors Field. A native of Texas, Harber has an appreciation for doing things big and rowdy. For proof, look no further than iFish's $2 shots of “Texas-sized” infused sake (intriguing options include dill pickle, cinnamon and strawberry), $5 soju bombs and its infamous bottomless sake Tuesdays. The Texan connection also explains items like the top-selling Bandito Roll (which fuses tuna, fiery serrano peppers and a special spicy sauce), the “Chino Latino” Wednesday specials (including three for $6 tacos) and the homemade “sushi salsa” (a zesty, olive oil-based alternative to soy sauce with avocado, jalapeno, cilantro and lime).
Of course, with over 35 sushi and sashimi rolls on the menu, there are plenty of traditional Japanese dishes on the patio and dining room tables at iFish, too. Slurp on some tempura udon as you people-watch from the sidewalk seating or sup on some grilled salmon or steak in the stylish indoor areas. Simply remember that there is more than one path to enlightenment, so embrace your inner loud and arrive ready for action.
