Specializing in cutting curls and to-die-for dye jobs, Shapes has been keeping Denver sexy for a dozen years. How old were you when you gave your Barbie her first haircut? For the small team of dedicated stylists at Shapes Salon, the question is an easy one to answer. It sparks passionately recounted tales of two- and three-year olds honing their early motor skills (and freaking out their parents) by taking shears to their dolls' strands of “hair.” Some people, it seems, are fortunate enough to find their calling early on in life—consider this Exhibit A. Not only do Richelle Bishop-Gonzales and her team spend their days immersed in a follicular frenzy, they engage in continuing Head Ed, flying out for DevaCurl training sessions in New York City and educating aspiring stylists in the nuances of proper coloration.
Shapes was Denver's first curly hair salon upon opening its doors in 2000 and both men and women keep seeking them out for their curly-friendly dry cut methods. Richelle has also been certified for 17 years as a master of the Schwarzkopf method, which is a coloring technique that ensures deep, rich hair coloring (in addition to being a great name for your punk rock band). Of course, Shapes doesn't discriminate, either: all hair types are welcome within their walls, so cross the bridge from downtown and pay them a visit the next time your locks are in need of a little TLC.
