Scout Notes: When searching for the perfect comfort food, soup joints are fine, but sometimes, you just need something heartier. Something chilier. By that we mean meat, beans and a complex spice profile that’ll knock yer boots off. Hidden in the heart of Culver City is Tub’s Fine Chili, who serve up the most delicious and creative chili menu we’ve found in all the west(side).
Family-run by serious chili lovers, high quality ingredients and mouthwatering flavors color every bite. Your selection from eight distinctly different interpretations (from steak to veggie) of this southern classic comes served atop a freshly-pressed bread tub, brown rice or corkscrew pasta. Along with various toppings, heat-seekers find fiery pleasure in a splash of Tub’s TNT, a flavorless (although spicy), odorless (and dangerous!) habanero hot sauce. Delicate flavors dance together to create Poncho Verde, made with chili powder carefully selected and imported from New Mexico. Do not skip the sweet and crunchy Hushpuppy Tails, served with a honey marmalade butter. And dessert, EUREKA! Big enough to feed a family of four, the ice cream sandwiches are made from freshly baked cookies and hold a Ghirardelli Fudge surprise at the center. As friendly and sweet as the food is delicious, you’ll find yourself returning simply because you miss Rancher Rick & Boss Mama (Margie). They’ll welcome you back with open arms. And a big tub of chili.
