Papi's Pizzeria
Papi's Pizzeria thinks it's time for LA to have its own hometown pizza. Is there any food that is on so many people’s favorite food list? Show me someone who doesn’t have a favorite pizza joint, and I’ll show you a liar. Make a trek over to Papi’s Pizzeria and ask the owners Marcus and his wife Angelica. They have planned vacations around going and eating pizza. Traveling this land high and low in search of the elusive “Perfect Pie”. Born and raised Angelino’s, they thought it was time for some hometown LA Pizza. New York and Chicago have theirs, so why not LA. And thus Papi’s was born. Using only the freshest and best local ingredients, add a little love, and they have created a recipe that has Downtown LA abuzz. Using a classic stone deck pizza oven, the crust will make you forget others and wonder where this pie has been your whole life. They don’t cut corners on ingredients, and the proof is “in the pie”.
Located on the edge of the fashion district, in a building built in 1912, they have created a classic old school vibe, with clean, fresh flavors. The inside was built and finished with assistance from all the family, right down to the tile floors. Pizzas run from the Zapata to the Butcher Block, and these pies will not disappoint. Don’t forget to try one of their salads as well, including their favorite, the Marco Polo. And last, but certainly not least, are the oven baked potato wedges. Just make sure to get a side of the homemade horseradish dipping sauce. Heavenly. This is a love affair with pizza. If you claim to love pizza, then you have to get yourself over to Papi’s for some good old-fashioned Los Angeles Pie. Get your grub on even into the wee hours; they stay open till 3am on weekends!
