Mas Tacos Por Favor
Scout Notes: At home in East Nashville is a special little taco shop off McFerrin: Mas Tacos Por Favor. A staple for our most eclectic borough, Mas Tacos is a fresh, southern take on the simplest and most favored of Mexican dishes, the taco. And guess what? You get one for free this week!
Teresa’s, Mas Tacos’ senorita, love of Mexican food and culture was cultivated with her many travels to the colorful country down south. With Mexico on her mind, she moved to Nashville with a hunger to share what she had found. And so the Mas Tacos truck hit the streets. As one of the first food trucks in Nashville, it’s reputation spread across our city with taco enthusiasts clamoring for one of these specialty delights. The truck was a manageable start, but two years later it was time to set up more permanent roots. Much to my everyone's happiness, Teresa and the Mas Tacos family set up shop in East Nashville in July 2010. Gone are the days of scouring the city for the taco truck. Now we know where to find the goods any day of the week.
So what makes these tacos so darn good? They’re not your traditional beef, cheese and lettuce make up. Teresa puts a southern spin to her food with tacos like the cast-iron chicken taco and the quinoa sweet potato taco. Not only are these tacos full of somewhat unsuspected ingredients like fried avocados and scrambled eggs, everything is fresh, made daily and changes with the season. You know how we like our seasonal foods around here.
