Kay Bob's Sandwiches
Scout Notes: When it comes to the Southern fusion food genre, we thought Nashville had all fronts covered. From Southern sushi to down-home Italian, where there is a menu, there is an entree featuring bacon. However, we had no idea what we were missing in the Middle Eastern meets American Southern Sandwiches Department until Hillsboro Village's newest restaurant, Kay Bob's, opened its expansive garage doors just a couple months ago.
Kay Bob's is brought to us by the same owners of Pizza Perfect and the same philosophies of freshly prepared grub, and speedy service all apply. Kay Bob's uses local ground beef (that is also antibiotic free and hormone free, mind you), and their chicken and steak are all natural, too. Each of Kay Bob's specialty flatbread sandwiches are made fresh to order and when they say “fresh to order”, they're not messing around. The flatbread is baked individually per order in a swift one and a half minutes. The Middle Eastern portion of Kay Bob's comes into play in the seasoning and preparation of the meats. All the meat is, you guessed it, cooked to order, and grilled over an open flame. However, they bring it all back to Nashville with sandwiches that have names such as Tammie Rae (a barbeque chicken sammy topped with coleslaw and jack cheese) and a variety of side options including Dill Potato Salad, House-cut Fries and Homemade Sweet Potato Chips. They even offer a couple of vegetarian sandwiches and a plethora of salads for all you health conscious folks out there. It also is a necessity that you must try at least a few, if not all, of Kay Bob's signature sauces. The Spicy Mango is guaranteed to rock your world and the Sweet and Spicy Mustard is a required accoutrement for the homemade french fries. So, if your New Year's resolution is to spice up your same ol' lunch routine (and let's face it, if it isn't, it should be), waltz on over to Kay Bob's and just try to save the second half of your sandwich for later.
Menu Highlights:
Uncle Bob, $7.95
Aunt Kay, $7.95
Dancin' Desiree, $7.50
Hours:
Monday through Sunday, 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
