Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival

Some Saturdays are for sleeping in. Others are for waking up early, heading downtown and watching more than 50 different teams race down the Cumberland River in old-school Chinese dragon boats. Set those alarm clocks, because these dragons only wake up once a year.

Their home season at Municipal Auditorium is over, but don’t expect our local rollergirls to hang up their skates just yet. They’ll be turning the tables on each other this Sunday evening. Expect a double-header filled with turnin’ wheels, flyin’ hair and bruised skin. Bonus: if you buy a $10 advance ticket, you get free admission to the fair all day long.
