We at Scoutmob have been privy to many ambitious restaurant concepts. However, owner Alvin Wray’s maneuver may be one of the most artfully executed strategic alliances. Soliciting design expertise from “It” designers of the moment, twins Dee and Ricky (and licensing their brand name for the restaurant for good measure), Wray fast-tracked his new eatery into buzz-worthy territory. Why should he have waited? Classic Jamaican fare with a southern touch is twice as good when it's hot. The Chicken Roti is the most popular item, with competition from the Chicken and Waffles, served crispy and fluffy and plated with a cloud of whipped cream. In addition to dreaming up artsy concepts for the interior — shiny bar stools and chairs covered in Louis Vuitton’s signature fabric, for starters —Dee and Ricky crafted some funky fare for the menu as well. The twins collaborated with Wray to produce the Root Beer Sliders and Jerk Chicken Nuggets. Dee and Ricky’s Home Cooking is just as the name implies — classic dishes fashioned with flair. Don’t let the naysayers dissuade you — “trendy” is a good thing as long as it’s tasty, too.
