Luckily if you pop into Montague Street Bagels at any given time of the day, you'll get to witness just that: trays of bagels just coming out of the oven and placed directly onto the shelves (we witnessed a lady second guess her decision to toast her bagel because it was still piping hot!). For the past 20 years this neighborhood shop has been supplying the residents of Brooklyn Heights with the hand-rolled, kettle-boiled delightfulness they crave, be it the commuters on their way to work or school kids filing in for lunch. Also on the menu are hand made cream cheeses and spreads, plus specialty sandwiches like Corned Beef, Black Forrest Ham or Genoa Salami. If you're not in the mood for a bagel (umm…) they've still got you covered with offerings like Apple & Cranberry Tuna Salad, Baked Salmon Salad or Marinated Mozzarella & Tomato Salad.
The moral of this story? Don't be surprised if your day suddenly revolves around when those fresh bagels come out.
