We can't help but think that if Gangnam Style were a type of decor, this would be it. Rock your lungs out in this neon wonder palace, while scarfing down Korean classics and lapping up specialty cocktails.Koreatown: home to exotically delicious eats and fantastically affordable spa deals. And now? It's also home to our go-to for some serious karaoke. Housed on the fifth floor of an inconspicuous office building on 32nd St., just under Herald Square, 5Bar transports its patrons to a world of neon, strobe lights, KPop videos and good times. If Gangnam Style was a means of decor, this would be it.
There are several ways to unleash your vocal talents: rent one of the group rooms that hold anywhere from four to 20 people or simply kick it in the main lounge next to the bar. DJs spin live Thursday through Sunday, and luckily, it's just loud enough to cover up our singing along. For sustenance, check out the menu full of Korean and American classics, like spicy seafood rice cakes, fried calamari and cajun fries. And for a little liquid courage, hit up the full bar, featuring specialty cocktails and beers on tap. Just don't spill anything on the PSYde tables. (GET IT?!)
