Your trip to the Hamptons just got a whole lot easier thanks to the folks at La Cava. Grab a seat amongst the beautiful people, order a glass of wine and a plate of duck pate, and toast to the finer things in life.Maybe it was the elegant white walls and dark wood trim of the dining room; maybe it was the laid-back, good-time vibe of the staff; or maybe it was the slowly gathering crowd of pretty people for a wine-besotted happy hour, but something about La Cava feels like it's been uprooted from a well-heeled Hamptons hamlet and carefully tucked into its location on 2nd Avenue in Midtown. All of the above attributes (plus, you know, its wine list) make it a great spot to meet up with friends and enjoy the finer things in life.
Those finer things, of course, include a comprehensive wine list that sees Chardonnays from Sonoma, Malbecs from Mendoza, Termpranillo from the Rioja region, and everything in between. If wine isn't in your sights, La Cava also offers a couple of lovingly crafted cocktails, like the Peach Martini or the 2nd Ave. Cosmo, as well as a handful of beers on draft. And because good drinks beget good food, the dinner menu is not to be overlooked. It's full of shareable plates like salmon tartare, duck pate and bruschetta. Our favorite, though? We loved the Cava Plate (the chef's daily selection of meats, cheeses and pate) to share, and for main entrees, we recommend the 8-ounce filet mignon, salmon nicoise salad and roasted lamb chops.
Protip: Get in early for a table because, just like the Jitney, things fill up fast.
