Do you know the difference between French and American buttercream icing? Find out and while you're at it, tickle your sweet tooth by biting into a (free!) doughnut. There are a lot of things we've easily, and gladly, grown out of: sucking our thumbs, pulling our sibling's hair, that sweatsuit from grandma... But cravings for sweet, sweet pastries is definitely not one of them. Luckily, we have Butter Lane, which likes to think of their product as cupcakes and doughnuts for grownups, and that makes us feel better about ordering a dozen before skipping down the street.
Devoted to making the perfect cupcakes, doughnuts, coffee and other assorted baked goodies, this shop focuses on pure ingredients like real vanilla beans, pure cocoa and dark chocolate, which gives us a little something more to sink our teeth into besides the straight sugar our childhood selves used to crave. The best part of Butter Lane is that not only do the pastry chefs make delicious, elegant goods, but they'll teach you how to make them, as well, in one of their baking classes. They provide the equipment, ingredients and know-how—you provide the desire to rock a mixing bowl. And as if that wasn't excitement enough, they'll also hand over a freshly baked, free (!) doughnut, when you purchase a coffee and flash your Scoutmob. Nope, we won't be growing out of this anytime soon.
