This ain't the lunchroom cafeteria of yore, folks. Instead, it's full o' quick and healthy sushi options. Oh, and a pianist on the grand piano for, you know, ambiance. With walls lined in kiosks and a crisp modern space, Sushi-teria is a refuge for the health-conscious and the work-weary. Folks, this is the lunch of the future. The name is a play on ye olde "cafeteria," but this isn’t the lunch room of our grade-school days, by any means. A pianist can oftentimes be found playing old favorites at a grand piano that's surrounded by ample seating for the cubicle escapees. And the emphasis at Sushi-teria is on making everything easy, fun, and fast; it shines like a beacon in the Midtown sea of lunchtime options.
Just step up to one of the tablets on the wall, tap in your order and pay with a card (or cash at the register). You'll be done before we can say "Mango Madness Roll in my stomach right now, please." For an inventive treat, try one of the specialty rolls, like the Pacific Jewel, an expert pairing of eel and avocado with spicy blue crab, tobiko, scallions and citrus miso dressing. For the adventurous or the indecisive (it's okay, we’ve been there, too) pick and choose from the list of maki bites, a.k.a. single servings of the different sushi rolls. And as an added (and healthy!) bonus, the rolls can be made with brown rice, and each comes with a helping of Sushi-teria's home-brewed low-sodium soy sauce. We’ll admit, it's a challenge not to scarf it down as fast as we ordered it.
