Imagine hundreds of games (with all of their pieces!) to choose from and fresh coffee during the competition. Sound too good to be true? This new Greenwich Village cafe is a gamer's utopia.Playing a board game at a bar can be pretty treacherous. As if the missing pieces and gin-soaked cards weren’t enough, our strategy certainly goes out the window after we’ve knocked back a few. Fret no more! The Uncommons is a gamer’s utopia. Imagine hundreds of games (with all of their pieces) to choose from and fresh coffee during the competition. Sound too good to be true? This new Greenwich Village cafe has already stocked up more than 200 games — and the number is still growing every day. Local game-lovers are encouraged to contribute some of their favorites to the inventory here. Choose from nostalgic favorites like Battleship and Clue, strategic hits like Settlers of Catan and Game of Thrones, or word puzzlers like Scrabble and Super Big Boggle.
Keep that noggin going strong through each round and rematch with a sweet Pumpkin Pie Latté. Or for less of a coffee buzz, sip on a cup of the Local Apple Cider (too much espresso makes for some shaky Jenga hands). Stick around for a bite – and another round of Scrabble, while we’re at it. Their Pastries, bagels, salads, sandwiches and daily soup specials are just the excuse we needed to keep trying for that seven-letter word.
