Some people hash out their desert-island meals, but we're more interested in the island(s) we've got close at hand. If you had one last chance for a gastronomic throwdown here in NYC, would you hit Per Se or get a Papaya dog? We had to know:
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR LAST MEAL IN NY?
OUR SCOUT SAYS:
It may have recently gotten knocked down a star by the Times, but my love remains: I'm going to Lupa. And I'm spending a truckload, starting with bottles of Dolcetto, plates of speck, and bowl after bowl of carbonara.
"Mama's Food Shop: Fried chicken, mac and cheese, candied yams. Loads of ketchup and hot sauce. Giant Iced Tea."
- Siu Lo
"John's Pizzeria on Bleecker. Pile up my personal large sized pizza with mushrooms and meatballs! Wash it down with root beer!"
- Jessica Schneider
"Meatball Shop on the LES: Veggie balls over polenta with marinara. Wash it down with a Sixpoint Sweet Action! And of course, follow it all with an ice cream sandwich :)"
- Sarah Rosenblatt
"Clinton Street Bakery; southern breakfast- 2 poached eggs over cheese grits(mixed well with yolk from the eggs) w/ fried green tomatoes and candied bacon. Sour cherry pie a la mode for dessert. Followed by an ability to die happy."
- Arielle Dachille
NEXT WEEK’S WHAT SAY YOU: WHICH NY TEAM DO YOU REP?
We're not naming names, but there's at least one member of the Scoutmob NYC crew who regularly wears a Giants Snuggie. (Not in public.) (At least we don't think). Which local team would have you painting your face and fighting with strangers? (Hey, Mets fans? Be honest.) Let us know via
Twitter or Facebook.
