There's no greater feeling than seeing someone's labor of love gain traction and attention, especially if that project happens to be completely terrific. We've been big fans of Nona Brooklyn since they first started covering all of the borough's best food action, and here's why: while other blogs turned to ever-shorter, ever-quicker posts, Nona Brooklyn dug in deeper with long, detailed articles and essays on the subjects at hand. We were proud to have them on board as some of our earliest Local Scouts, and now we're proud to cast our vote for them in Saveur's 2012 Best Food Blog Awards.
If you're a foodie, a Brooklynite, or a fan of stories about interesting entrepreneurs, now's the time to add Nona Brooklyn to your Google Reader. Started by Peter & Alison Hobbs and Steve Mayne, the site has spent its first years in existence covering everything from the Robicelli's quest for a book deal to the process of foraging wild oyster mushrooms in New York's public spaces. Their interviews are extensive, their photo essays are phenomenal, and they publish some of our favorite round-ups of local food events. Frankly, it makes us want to buy them all a lavish thank you dinner. But for now, we'll be casting a vote. Join us, won't you? It'll feel good.
