Okay, maybe the connection here isn't immediately obvious, but we're still intrigued by this Brooklyn Brewery proposition: write a song about the infamously infuriating G train, and you'll get a shot at a free trip to Sweden on Labor Day weekend.

The contest is a tie-in to the bizarre but awesome Brooklyn Sweden festival, a musical gathering celebrating the best performers of our dear outer borough alongside the best bands, singers, and songwriters in Stockholm (confirmed so far: The Hold Steady, Cults, Blonde Redhead, Phosphorescent, Dum Dum Girls, and a handful of other big-marquee names.) The festival covers two days in each city, and Brooklyn Brewery is at the heart of the whole endeavor, which is why they're springing for at least one lucky G-train bard to hit the road.

If you're of the musical persuasion and have been pining for the fjords, here's the skinny: once you've written your ode to the G train, upload it to YouTube and send the link to freebie@brooklynbrewery.com before July 24. The top songs will hit Brooklyn Brewery's Facebook page in August, at which point they'll be voted on by the public at large. Winner gets an all-expenses paid trip to Stockholm. Oh, and our undying love and respect.
