This month has been full of outdoor food events and last weekend was no different. Saturday, the Street Vendors Project, hosted its 8th annual Vendy Award celebration on Governors Island. Every year, the legal defense fund for street vendors, food carts and trucks gathers some of the best food vendors in town for a day of snacking in the sun.

It wouldn't be a food event if everyone didn't have their cameras out.

The Chinese Mirch truck brought a traditional Chinese Lion Dance troupe to perform.

Chinatown's XinJiang Kebab cart brought amazing cumin scented skewers of beef, chicken and lamb.

This year's celebrity judges included members of Das Racist and Baohaus chef, Eddie Huang.

Best dessert winner, Melt, serving ice cream cookie sandwiches.

With tacos like these, filled with goat carnitas and chorizo, it's no surprise that Red Hook's Piaztlan truck took the Vendy Cup home when all was said and done.

Rookie of the year, Phil's Steaks brought Philly flavor to the day - both with their delicious cheesesteaks and a soundtrack by The Roots.
