Modo Boutique
The Scoop: How did East Burnside’s Modo Boutique know that we were dreaming of a shop that sold of-the-moment clothes for based-in-economic-reality prices? Maybe proprietresses Allison Fordham and Myla Crowell have ESP. Or maybe these sartorially savvy gals just have an appreciation for designer clothes—and a soft spot in their hearts for reclaimed fashion (which just happens to be a bit easier on the purse).
Scout Notes: The designer resale and consignment space has been around in one form or another for six years, but its latest iteration—near the Rock & Rose space on Burnside—sends Modo into the boutique big leagues. Since the shop started with online consignment, its big and bright bricks-n-mortar space is filled with fresh finds from all over the world. For example, the day we were there we spied the following (try not to drool): Chanel heels, an Opening Ceremony dress, Frye clogs, a top by Velvet and a Stella McCartney for Adidas tennis dress. Love raiding the sale rack at Anthropologie? Skip it: Modo gets tons of Anthro. Feeling fall? Right now, you’ll find tops in every color of the rainbow, chunky knits and boots. Our favorite part about Modo, though, is not just the amazing brands and adorable picks; it’s that everything in the store gets cycled through a four-month sale process. So if you fell in love with a pair of Fryes that were beyond the reach of your wallet, come back on the first of the month; if they’re not gone, they’re marked down. Score one for the piggy bank—and score a bunch for your new (and previously loved) fall wardrobe.
