While coming here may not be exactly like taking a trip to the Big Island, it'll do in a pinch, especially when there are tropical cocktails and dishes like the Loco Moco Hamburger to indulge in.When we stepped into Ate-Oh-Ate, we noticed something different... and we liked it. We're talking about all the natural sunlight streaming in from the four huge sky lights that grace the wooden rafters. Indoor dining suddenly felt like the best patio dining in town. “When you look up, it almost looks like the bottom of a boat,” said Ben, who runs this lovely spot.
But look to your right! That’s where the menu hangs like a glorious beacon of Hawaii, offering dishes like the Korean Chicken, the Loco Moco Hamburger (rice, hamburger patty, fried eggs, and shitake brown gravy) and the Hekka (stir-fried vegetables with Yam noodles in a sweet soy and rice wine sauce). And don’t forget the cocktails. “My recent favorite is the ChiChi,” said Ben. “It is just delicious.” Pair one with Spam Musubi, a delectable dish of Hawaii's favorite potted meat, fried to perfection and sandwiched with egg and onion, white rice and tight seaweed, wrapped into your very own portable square (cause you'll need one hand free for the drink). While coming here may not be exactly like taking a trip to the Big Island, it'll do in a pinch. :)
