Other Cities
Who's Behind All of This?
That would be our Local Scouts. These fine folks are Scoutmob-approved storytellers, socialites, and fellow citizens. They're just like you, only they come standard with a camera, laptop and an incessant need to share their view of this city with anyone who'll feign interest. If you happen to see them wandering about town, kindly reach out for a high-five. After all, it's the neighborly thing to do.
Rose Garrett
Much like a superhero, Rose lives a double life: working in the startup world by day, tracking down the city's juiciest meats and scoops on nights and weekends. She's a stringer for the Bold Italic, editor at large for Haighteration, amateur illustrator and owner of a camera she can barely operate.
Brad Japhe
Brad likes the simple pleasures in life: hoppy beer, fresh sushi and snuggling with Travis the Dog. Although he's spent nearly his entire professional career in the Bay Area, he still considers himself a New Yorker at heart (You got a problem with that?). Someday, he'd love to find true love and/or become a Vegan, but nobody's perfect.
The Bay Bridged
Independence is not being influenced by the thought or action of others. TheBayBridged.com has become recognized as the leading source for the best in San Francisco Bay Area independent rock, folk and pop music. Stay tuned to The Bay Bridged to stay on top of great music from the best in undiscovered and up-and-coming local musicians.
Summer Sewell
Summer writes for the Bold Italic, and has written for various print publications, but her favorite stories are the ones in her dream journal. She embraces her inner senior citizen by frequenting late-night donut shops and horse racing tracks. The stories that come out of those places are mind-boggling.
The Bold Italic
Because the culture of the city needs to be emphasized twice. Every story is an experiment in local discovery. Our backyard is the Pacific Ocean, our front yard is San Francisco. Helping you be a better local.
Eva Frye
Eva will try anything twice a skill developed while eating/backpacking her way through Europe, Asia and Central America. She honed her hacks as an apprentice at Spruce, and covers food and the culinary industry for Eater SF and her blog, A Side of Frye. She hopes to one day be able to afford to eat like Michael Bauer.
Carina Ost
Carina Ost is always trying to reach the elusive foodgasm. If there’s one thing she loves
more than food, it’s words. F is her favorite letter and 8 her favorite number. She loves
fruit + completion and that = fruition.
Ken Harman
Man of a thousand jobs: Online Media Manager for Hi-Fructose Magazine, Founder of transient art gallery Spoke Art, San Francisco correspondent for art-obsessed blog Arrested Motion. Has a cat who uses the toilet (yay Nora!). Can solve a Rubix Cube in two minutes.
Kelsey Elliott
You can find Kelsey Elliot every morning at Knead Patisserie. She writes for Culinary Trends Magazine, and is the California Cuisine Examiner for Examiner Online. She's kept a running list of cheese encounters and, if Bobby Flay shows up for a throw down, she'll be ready.
I want to be a scout! How do I apply?
