Okay, that might not be entirely accurate. But although it may seem like SF’s penchant for pork and pizza has taken over (there’s no use hiding our dark obsessions), the pendulum swings in the direction of healthy, too. And lately, we’ve noticed a profusion of juice bars popping up all over, prompting us to wonder whether juice is the new black/bacon/Friday/terrarium or whatever else our trendy city has hyped in the past.
What’s the deal with all these juiceries? For one thing, we hear it’s hellllllllllllla good for you. For another, we’ve also gotten wind of a sort of health high you can get after chugging down your fruits and veggies. Either way, we’re interested. Here are the 5 spots we want to check out ASAP for summertime sipping:
Sidewalk Juice. This 21st St. hole in the wall slings smoothies, fresh juices and kombucha, and we hear they’ve always got bumpin’ tunes to boot.
Juice To You: This juicerie on Union St. offers a rainbow of freshly juiced veggie-licious options, and we hear they’ve got the best juice cleanse in town.
SōW Pop-up: This weekend pop-up at Pause Wine Bar aims to showcase local, organic and seasonal produce and to make juice more a part of daily life. Look for the bright sidewalk sign to see when SōW’s in session.
Corazon Juicebar. This brand-spanking-new juice bar features “Mexican-style” juice, smoothies and raspados (Mexican shaved ice). We’re pegging this as our summer spot for pre-park refreshments to cool down and chill out with.
Living Greens. This Bernal gem has perfected the balance between fuits and veggies to turn out health-tastic juices like the complexion cure, immune rocket, brain power and much more.
