Meet the Asian Cajuns
Asiancajuns

On this week's Local Mug, we're seeing double. Or twins, really. They've been two of Atlanta's favorite bloggers, sharing their creative, budget-friendly fashion finds and Decatur love for anyone who happens upon their page. Now we put the girls through a Scoutmob Q&A to learn a little more. Meet Cath and Lar, Atlanta's Asian Cajuns:

How we know you?
Cath: As some variation of "AsianCajuns," "CajunAsians," "RaginCajuns," "Asians...?" or not at all.
Lar: "Those Asian twins who have a blog." You can imagine we have some disappointed customers when all they get is an earful about fashion, art, design and Atlanta.

Favorite hangout in Atlanta?
Cath: Any local pub. I love the Brick Store even though it gets ridiculously crowded. The Grange has a great neighborhood feel and Leon's has the best cocktails and serves bacon in a glass.
Lar: Any place with scrumptious vittles: Watershed, Cakes and Ale, The Cookie Studio, Duck's Cosmic Kitchen (I would give up my closet for a lifetime supply of their cinnamon rolls).

Favorite Atlanta neighborhood?
Cath: Decatur, of course!
Lar: Decatur and ... the West End (where my boy friend and the Wren's Nest live).

If you were mayor for the day, what would you create for the city?
Cath: I would shut down all the roads for a day and make people, walk, bike or take public transportation to work.
Lar: And I would encourage all the artists/musicians around to convene in some public space and inspire.

A friend from out of town is here to visit; where’s the one place you have to take them?
Cath: This one is a toughy because there are so many great places to take visitors. Apart from taking visitors around to the different neighborhoods, I would take them to Oakland Cemetery, the Cyclorama and The Wren's Nest.
Lar: The Cookie Studio. Smells like sugar and butter and you leave at least 10 pounds happier.

One thing people don’t know about (both of) you:
Cath: We have different size feet. Lar's feet are a half size bigger, however this does not stop us from sharing shoes.
Lar: We've never actually been tested to see if we are identical. We will always claim we are.

Your favorite “curious find” in Atlanta?
Cath: The honey-glazed bacon at Sun in My Belly - it's out of this world.
Lar: The Decatur Book Festival! Funnel cake, corn dogs, and great literature - I couldn't ask for more.

Best underrated place to shop?
Cath: Vacation Gallery on North Highland behind Urban Outfitters. The gallery/store has a great selection of secondhand clothes and accessories.

Lar: The Goodwill at Northlake. I'm still gaga over my $2 Bottega Veneta find.

Best "curious" fashion purchase you've come across and where?
Cath: Tacky Christmas sweatshirt from Clothing Warehouse in L5P.
Lar: My Hindu goddess torso ring from Evolve Boutique right by Emory.

Favorite local personality:
Cath: Coco Chanel. He/She always wears blue (either a dress, skirt and/or leggings) and walks around all over town. Haven't seen him/her in a while...
Lar: Ted Turner! Does he count? He is so green. And I'm a big bison burger fan.

Describe Atlanta in three words:
Cath: Urban southern charm.
Lar: Hot Eclectic Tasty

And finally, a shameless plug for you or anything else you think deserves a shameless plug in ATL:
Cath: One of the best things about Atlanta is all the independent shops and restaurants. We try to mention indie businesses every chance we get on our blog.
Lar: Other great local blogs: The Wren's Nest Blog, Decatur Metro, InDecatur, Bonjour it's Jinah, Want Beer With That?, June Shin, Hiking in Stilettos, Hippie Frou Frou, A Life Fulfilled. We have a full list on our blog!
