One major holiday down, one more to go. The City’s been quiet lately what with everyone at home for the holidays, but come this weekend, they will flock like a hoard of deal seekers on Black Friday. This weekend will likely end in a giant flaming ball of out-of-control, so try to keep yourself in check this week with these fun activities:
WE DON’T WANT TO MISS:
SNOB THEATER ALMOST NEW YEAR’S EVE
Thursday, December 30, 10 p.m. to midnight
The digital age of instant information has bred us to be A.D.D. monsters, luckily The Dark Room is putting on a show that caters to it! Snob Theater (pictured) features local indie rock bands and stand-up comedians all in one shebang. This almost NYE performance features Kristee Ono, Jeff Reitman, Vladimir Khlynin, Kevin Camia dishing out the laughs and Foxtails Brigade and The Shants dialing up the tunes. The Theater only has 50-ish seats, so if you want to go, grab your ticket now.
ALSO WORTH CHECKING OUT:
HOLIDAY ICE RINK AT THE EMBARCADERO
Closes January 2nd, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, until 11:30 p.m. weekends
The Hawaiian Airlines-sponsored ice rink is shutting down this weekend, so this is your last chance to strap on some ice blades and get out there, because we all know you won’t be in any condition to move this weekend. Friday is your last chance to try to win roundtrip air fare for 2 to Hawaii as well. Wouldn’t a little sun feel amazing right now?
THE DARK CRYSTAL AT THE RED VIC
Monday, December 27, 7:15 p.m. an 9:20 p.m.
We’re not sure what was going in Jim Henson’s life when he made The Dark Crystal, but he took his cuddly Muppets and slapped them with a hand full of nightmares. He proved that yes, puppets can scare the bajesus out of kids as much as clowns can. The film took five years to complete, but it’s taken way more than five years for us to be ok after seeing it. Go revive your childhood fears at The Red Vic!
