The Scoop: Nestled in a three-story restaurant complex just north of Georgetown is a cozy little place that offers up unique and tasty Thai food made by a chef who knows what's up. Her name is Thasana Midee and she's been learning her craft since she was 12, the age she started grinding spices in Bangkok under her grandmother's guidance. And speaking of spice, there's plenty of it here, both in the food and in the traditional Thai decor. Plenty of elephants watch over your first bites into the flavorful concoction known as Penang Curry. Spicy, with strong hints of peanut, coconut and basil, it'll make your tongue dance like it's in a Thai prison.

Scout Finds: One of the most awesome things about Heritage Asia is the friendly staff. Although shy to recommend a dish because Thai food's one of those cuisines that varies depending on spice tolerance, we finally found out that the classic pad thai was our server's favorite. "It's got a really nice flavor to it," she told us, while making us feel at home. And it's not hard to feel that way, especially if you're at one of the tables closer to the back. Thai tapestries hang from the wall and you can see Thai furniture in the corner. Yeah, we took some decorating notes while we were eating, too.

And hell yes, we were eating. While Heritage Asia concentrates in Thai dishes, you can also find a few meals from Vietnam, like the grilled lemongrass saigon pork, and Hong Kong, like the Pad See Ew, which consists of Hong Kong-style sauteed soft rice noodles with egg, Chinese broccoli and your choice of protein. You'll also find a good selection of wines from around the world and, of course, the necessary Thai beer. Everything's right with the world after you crack into an ice-cold Singha. (Or a hundred.)
