My favorite place to sit at Skewers is in the front wraparound booth that overlooks P Street. Of course, once your piping hot plate of Middle Eastern or Mediterranean deliciousness arrives, the sweet view will probably no longer matter. That's because all your attention will be on your dish of Lamb Ragout or the Falafel Salad or a Chicken Kabob with all the fixin's. Or maybe your attention will be on all of the above because if the titles of these 100 percent homemade dishes aren't enough to make your ordering decision more difficult than training a cat to play fetch (or do anything, actually), then the enticing aromas in the air definitely will. Those aromas are courtesy of Skewers's chef, who's been perfecting his spiced-up concoctions since this restaurant opened 22 years ago. And while it's easy to get myopically focused on the food because it's just that good, don't forget to take a look at the drink menu, and more specifically the specialty Lebanese cocktails made with arak and sambuca, two anise-flavored liquers.
