Pro tip: don't overlook the more industrial side of Shirlington. If you do, you'll miss one of the most unique and awesome establishments in the area. Situated atop a smallish parking ramp, is Lucy's ARL, a.k.a. 9,000 sq. feet of pure pool hall righteousness. We're talkin' over a baker's dozen pool tables laid out around two sides of an oval-shaped bar, which is elevated just enough for you to get a peep on who you're gonna hustle later. Or play fairly with. Your choice. What's also your choice is the array of delicious food here, including staples like nachos and burgers, but also things like zawiches, a savory addition that co-owner Amy Borek brought back after traveling to Italy. "They're sandwiches that use fresh-baked pizza dough instead of bread," said the other owner, Misti Wise. As I bit into my Philly cheesesteak zawich (zammie?), I felt like Columbus discovering America. Or at least a foodie discovering a new must-have dish. Better than a regular sandwich, the "bread" in the zawich was able to handle the layers of juicy steak, cheese, peppers and onions, while keeping all this protein in check. Washed down with a root beer (served here on draft!) and I was ready to take my plate of deep fried candy bars (ZOMFG, for real) and get my game on.

Menu Highlights:
The Philly Zawhich, $10.49
Bolsilla (chorizo, queso blanco, jalapeños + onions deep fried in pizza dough), $6.99
Nachos, $8.99
Fried Candy, $5.99
Dominion Root Beer on tap, $2.49

Hours:
Monday - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Sunday, noon to midnight
