Odalis II

50% off Odalis II
The authenticity of the dishes at this Silver Spring establishment are thanks to owner Jose Argueta, an El Salvador native, who brought the flavors he grew up with to his expansive menu.
When I walked in to Odalis Restaurant II I was almost overwhelmed by the wide range of authentic Central and South American foods on offer. From the breakfast menu to the wine list, I was instantly transported South. That's thanks to owner Jose Argueta, an El Salvador native, who brought the flavors he grew up with to his restaurant in Silver Spring. I sampled the salmón a la parrilla, which was perfectly grilled and served with a decadent sauce and steamed vegetables. But don’t be intimidated by all the big Spanish words I’m throwing out, yanno, like salmón (my years of high school Spanish make me a bit of an expert…). The menu is huge so if you're looking for something more familiar, this casual spot also offer American classics like hamburgers (although, I suggest swapping out the classic French fry pairing with fried yucca). Or go for a Lima-to-DC favorite with a plate of juicy Peruvian chicken. Jose explains, “Combining these two cuisines was the best way for Americans to experience Latin American food.” Although I was a bit rusty, there was one Spanish phrase I still remembered and put to good use at Odalis: “¡Mas Pina Coladas, por favor!”
