That said, should you find your fingers way too greasy after a meal on a regular basis, I kindly suggest switching up your eating routine and making it a habit to get to Wisey's, one of the tastiest and healthiest spots in the District. Owned by the same proprietors who run the popular Wisemiller's Deli on Georgetown's campus, this cozy Wisconsin Ave. spot keeps the same culinary aesthetic—mammoth, made-to-order, fresh-as-can-be sammies, wraps, paninis and salads. For me, the California Panini is where it's at. Consisting of grilled chicken breast, avocados, Havarti cheese, sprouts, tomato and honey mustard on a croissant, if sandwiches had an Olympic event, this one would win the gold. Plus, if you want to slim it down, say, by switching out the croissant for a couple sliced of multigrain bread, just ask. Since nothing is touched before you order it, anything can be customized. Whatever you do, don't forget to order a smoothie. Made with fresh fruit and frozen yogurt, these smoothies fool you into thinking you're drinking a milkshake. Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview approved. Pro tip: a neighborhood favorite is the Oreo cookie cookie, which is basically a chocolate chip cookie filled with crushed Oreos. It might be the best cookie in the universe.
