Although you might be more familiar with SOVA for its café atmosphere during the day, don't skip out on this place after dark. This is one of the best and most comfy bars in DC. Decked out in an array of vintage tables, chairs and couches, this is the kind of place where you can bring a group of old friends or a new romantic interest. In fact, why not come and get acquainted with this neighborhood favorite over a beer? Choose from a bunch of craft cans on offer, including Pork Slap and Heinnieweisse. "At its heart, this is a community space," said Frank Hankins. And speaking of community, after your beer is done, stick around this laid-back environment to mingle with some new friends and sample a glass of wine or two (SOVA has about 16 seasonal selections on hand at any given time) or try a cocktail. My personal recommendation for a DC summer is a Dark and Stormy. Made with Gosling's rum and ginger beer, it has just the right amount of bite to make you forget how sweaty you are.
