Cassatt's Kiwi Café came about after owner Art Hauptman traveled to New Zealand for business. Not only did he fall in love with the food (lamb is the specialty both there and at Cassatt's), but he also developed a crush on the country's coffee. “The coffee in New Zealand is wonderful,” he said, between sips of what’s known as a “flat white," a latte-like beverage. It's the perfect after-dinner drink (after you've downed a few glasses of wine), especially when accompanied by New Zealand's national dessert, the Pavlova. One bite in and we're pretty sure it should be the national dessert everywhere (sorry, apple pie, you don't offer enough airy layers of meringue for our tastes). But before dessert, make sure to get dinner. The Lamb Leg Steak is phenomenal. Salivate over it: it's lamb served with Marsala and fig sauce, and accompanied with orzo, veggies and more.
