If there's one thing that's hard to complain about in DC, it's our choice of restaurant options. We've got a lot. From the schmanciest of pants places to the food trucks you can't wait to get hit by, there's always someplace awesome to keep your stomach filled and taste buds happy. So, obviously we had to ask last week::
IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE MEAL LEFT IN DC, WHERE AND WHAT WOULD YOU EAT?
OUR SCOUT SAYS:
Well, I'm gonna make someone work hard to gather my last meal because I want several things from several places. First, I'd start with a bowl of garlic soup from Jaleo. It's served chilled, which is perfect for summer, and is both savory because of the garlic and crab meat and sweet because of the grapes. I'd then probably take my main course from Huong Viet in Eden Center out in Virginia. They've got the best caramelized lemongrass chicken dish in the world. (Sorry Vietnam, Falls Church has you beat.) Finally, for dessert, I think I'd keep it simple choice-wise and order EVERYTHING off the menu at Coco Sala. And a bottle or two of wine. Looks like someone will have to wheel meet out of the District...
"I would opt in for a liquid meal @MeridianPint and their sweet potatoes are pretty killer too."
"Cafe Atlantico. Their guacamole is like eating a cloud straight from heaven. So sad it's still not open"
"Margherita extra at #2Amys. No question."
"Michel Richard Citronelle, Lobster "Begula" Pasta."
"Easy, @BourbonSteakDC, no contest. (I get cocktails with that meal too, right?) :)"
"Dukem on U St! Such amazing Ethiopian food!"
"Nora. I'd eat anything vegan they'd prepare, especially the chocolate sorbet or Rogue 24 if they'd do me a great vegan menu :)"
NEXT WEEK’S WHAT SAY YOU: WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO/WHERE DO YOU LOVE TO GO IN THE DISTRICT THAT FEW OTHER PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT?
That's right, we want to know secrets! It'll be just like a slumber party in junior high, except instead of finding out if Katie likes Brian (yes, no, maybe), we're dishing about the District. We promise not to freeze any training bras to get the answers. Instead, let us know via Twitter or Facebook. The answers will be posted next week right here.
