With the Olympic games just days away now, it's time we figure out who to cheer for. After all, we didn't spend years perfecting this obnoxious USA! chant for nothin'. And because we're champions of all things local, we're interested in cheering the loudest for our hometown athletes. Interestingly, the DC area boasts both the youngest Olympian (swimmer Katie Ledecky, 16) and the oldest (equestrian Karen O’Connor, 54). Even more interestingly, a few more area athletes are tweeting their experiences. Here are a few you can follow with just one click with your big foam “We’re No. 1” finger (assuming your keyboard is jumbo):

Scott Parsons, Canoe/Kayak
Julie Zetlin, Rhythmic Gymnastics
Caroline Queen, Kayak
Becky Sauerbrunn, Soccer
Lori Lindsey, Soccer
Matthew McLean, Swimming
Kell Smith Puzo, Field Hockey

Obviously, we’ve already started following Team USA, and so we tweeted a question to a couple of ‘em: When you’re not training where do you hang out?

Rythmic gymnist Julie Zetlin answered Dupont and U Street. And kayaker Caroline Queen said, “My family loves the #Caps so definitely Verizon center. Can't beat hanging out at the NGA sculpture garden either!”

So, keep an eye out next time you’re out and about. That flashy gold chain you might see? It could be a gold medal.
