Although we've been disappointed with NBC's botched coverage of the Games (thanks for telling us Missy Franklin won the gold medal and would be on Good Morning America just before you aired the race...), we're still pumped to be seeing these Olympians do their thing. We're even more excited to pretend we are Olympians, and not just because we sometimes eat like Michael Phelps. (Eighteen pancakes in one sitting isn't too much, right?) To work all those delicious calories off, here are three Olympic events you can do right here in and around DC.
Kayaking. Although it's a bit (A LOT) different than the slalom kayaking event that takes place in the Games, kayaking on the placid Potomac is still a good way to get your arms in shape. Better yet, do it at Jack's Boathouse, where you can relax with a cool beverage and a BBQ (BYO-Meat) after your workout. Plus? We got your back.
Trampoline. Probably one of the most fun sports to compete in, trampolining is also a good way to flip off (pun intended) those extra inches. For a guided workout in one of the most unique gyms you'll ever find, hit up Rebounderz in Sterling, Va., where instead of the usual wood floor, you'll find a floor covered in trampolines.
Skeet Shooting. It may not be the most popular sport in the Games, but it's one of the most accessible, and also pretty dang fun. No gun training necessary, make your first lesson with the Bull Run Shooting Center in Centreville, Va., and you'll be busting those neon orange discs in no time.
