The most sudsy week of the year is upon us! Yes, it's DC Beer Week, which means, finally, our ability to crush beer cans with our heads will hopefully impress some people. Or maybe not. See, although beer week might conjure up images of college where every week was beer week, DC Beer Week [http://dcbeerweek.net/] can get classy. We're talking less PBR tallboys and more craft brews by some of the world's best brewers, including some of our very own. Speaking of our own, here's a seven-day guide to help you plan your week:
Monday, August 13, 5 p.m.
3 Stars Beer and Charcuterie Tasting
414 H St. NE
While we'd go to Boundary Road for the charcuterie by itself, now with the promise that it'll be paired with 3 Stars beers and, well, that's an easy sell.
Tuesday, August 14, 5 p.m. till close
Big Love: When One Isn't Enough
3400 11th St., NW
DC Brau, Mad Fox, 3 Stars and more are all invited to this party that'll celebrate the art of craft brewing, and more so, the art of craft imbibing. Every draft line will be taken over!
Wednesday, August 15, 5 p.m.
DC Brau Crab Festival
1200 Fort Meyer Dr., Arlington, Va.
Possibly the biggest DC Brau event of the week, it'll also feature some of the tastiest paired-with-beer food—CRABS! And yes, it's all you can eat. Godspeed.
Tickets are $35.
Thursday, August 16, 4 p.m.
The Big Hunt
1345 Connecticut Ave., NW
Evolution, DuClaw and 3 Stars come together at this event that will introduce you to some of the best of what local breweries have to offer. Come as you are to this super laid-back bar.
Friday, August 17, 7 p.m.
Chocolate City Beer: One Year Anniversary
801 E St., NW
Stop by to say ‘Happy Birthday’ to Chocolate City, then celebrate by kickin’ it with $5 Chocolate City beers on tap. While the bartenders keep your glasses full, DJ Benny will keep your ears full.
Saturday, August 18,
1245 H St., NW
Saisons are some of summer’s most refreshing brews. Sample a variety, including batches from 3 Stars, District Chophouse, DC Brau, Mad Fox, Cap City, Gordon Biersch and Chocolate City, at one of our favorite locales.
Sunday, August 19, noon
DC Brau/Stillwater Decompression Lunch
2003 P St., NW
Pizza and beer go way back. At least in at Pizzeria Paradiso, which has become known for their epic beer/pizza pairings. The excellence of this one is no different.
