Bethesda Film Festival
Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Avenue, Bethesda
The all-documentary Bethesda Film Festival, which shows on this Friday and Saturday night, is small, as festivals go: just five flicks are on the bill. But three of those featured films aren’t just directed by locals, but feature locals, too, like a Howard County firefighter, the DC Lady Arm Wrestlers, and two former DC Public School students.

RFK Stadium Festival Grounds, 2400 East Capitol Street SE
Release your inner frat bro/normcore persona at this year’s ShamrockFest, the fourteenth (wow, we feel old) installment of the “mother of all St. Patrick’s Day festivals.” ShamrockFest is a mashup of stuff you’ve heard of (Dropkick Murphys, Carbon Leaf), actual Irish traditions (Irish dancing, the DC Police pipes and drums corps), and the bizarre (Unicycle Lady)—plus all the partying RFK Stadium can reasonably contain.

Cachaca Sao Paulo Tasting
Jack Rose, 2007 18th Street NW
Someone once told us that caipirinhas are better mojitos. The national cocktail of Brazil swaps rum for cachaca, a hard liquor made with sugarcane. Better? Tonight, distillers of Sao Paolo cachaca will likely try to convince us of as much: Stop by Jack Rose between 7 and 9 p.m. for free tastings and to learn about how cachaca is made.
