Chinese Menu & Underground Comedy

DCAC, 2438 18th Street NW and Big Hunt, 1345 Connecticut Avenue NW

Chinese Menu is Peter Bergen’s comedy machine: he organizes instructional classes as well as shows for his troupe – which often feature traveling improv and standup performers. Tonight, see Chinese Comedy at the DC Arts Center. Don’t have $10 to spare? Descend into Big Hunt’s basement for Underground Comedy’s free standup show, a staple of the dive’s calendar on Wednesdays and Fridays. There’s no cover, but there are $1 tacos.

Awesome-con and Andrew W.K

Black Cat, 1811 14th Street NW

DC has its own Comic-Con, Awesome-Con, the main attraction of which seem to be appearances by a slew of members of the Walking Dead’s cast. But Awesome-Con leaves the convention center to throw a dead-serious party at Black Cat, headlined by none other than that most vaunted master of ceremonies, Andrew W.K. (Get wet.)

Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt

Pinstripes, 1064 Wisconsin Avenue NW

Pinstripes offers bowling, bocce, and bistro fare, so it’s no surprise that it’s putting on a grande-sized Easter egg hunt. Today, its regular brunch (think standards like made-to-order waffles and $5 bloody Marys) comes with 2,000 eggs—hidden around the historic, charming, and occasionally muddy C&O Canal. Though it’s kid-friendly (5 and under free, $15 for ages 6-12), we suspect it’s mature enough for adults ($30) looking to get their hunt on, too.
